July 2010 - Differential diagnostic of the burnout syndrome
Burnout has a very high individual, social and economic impact. Yet there is no consistent definition of burnout. Mainly due to reimbursement reasons, office-based doctors and clinicians use diagnoses like depression if they see a burnout case. The GP Forschungsgruppe presents a health technology assessment in which the authors conclude that a consensual definition of the burnout syndrome has to be found. Furthermore, there is a need for a standardized, international accepted and valid procedure for the diagnostics of burnout. Finally, the economic effects and implication of burnout diagnostics on the economy, the health insurances and the patients have to be analysed. The report can be downloaded.

Overall a high voter participation can be expected. 76% of the eligible voters want to vote by any means or vote by mail. 14% are not sure if they are going to vote. Beyond the slogans of the different parties the majority of the German voters has a clear idea of how the future policy should be geared to. On the one hand the German voters want to have more net income, but realize as well that the national debts which were taken to save banks and stabilise the economy will be the future taxes. In the opinion of the respondents this will lead to a severe problem for the sustainability of Germany and justice for future generations. Three of four respondents see a necessity in the reorientation of the German society (a political aim of the Green party), the focus point is an investment in renewable energies, social justice and education. Ecological Justice is understood as an integrative concept which includes intra-generational and distributive justice as well as inter-generational justice and the fair utilisation of resources. For the realisation of the EJ-concept the search for synergies between social and environmental policy as well as the development of a new wealth model are recommended. A communication strategy will be successful if it considers the following factors as important: political agenda, initiative, courageousness and persuasiveness of the relevant actors, transferability and diversification potential of the project idea and the composition of a network (Download PDF).

Justice and private debts are not an important subject of public concern. The financial turmoil and the economic crisis overshadow the long-time known over-indebtedness of private households.
